In our hectic, fast paced society, stress affects most of us on a daily basis. Whether your stress stems from your home, workplace, finances, or other pressures, the effects of stress often become hazardous to your health.
Stress is difficult to define. Often, what is stressful for one person, may be a walk in the park for another. Response to stress is individualized as well. Because of this, scientists and medical professionals have created a list of symptoms that are typically connected to stress. In doing so, they have identified certain markers and attempted to diagnose the cause of the symptom.
Here's a list of some of the 5 most highly recommended tips for reducing the stress in your life.
1. Unplug – Turn off your cell phone, and power down your ipad or computer. Allow yourself to disconnect from the world and enjoy peace and quiet. Pick up a book or do some gardening, the main thing is that you give your brain something else to focus on other than your anxieties.
2. Say No – Ever feel like you are being pulled in a million directions? While lending a hand to your neighbor and volunteering in the community are good causes, if you're feeling stressed it may be time to start saying "no". In our modern world we've glorified being "busy", but sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is relax.
3. Exercise – No gym membership required, just get out for a walk, take a bike ride, or go for a swim. Exercise is an excellent way to relieve stress, so whatever type of physical activity you prefer; get out and do it.
4. Think Positive – It may not sound like much, until you try it. When you start paying attention, you may be surprised at how many negative and self-sabotaging thoughts are poisoning your potential. Positive thinking allows you to conquer your anxiety and find serenity. You may even find that the things that caused stress before no longer bother you.
5. The Big Picture – When you start to get ‘stressed out’, take a step back and evaluate it in light of everything else going on in the world. Is it really worth getting upset or frustrated about? In the grand scheme of things, doesn't your problem seem more of a "petty anxiety"? Let the little things go.
Highly successful entrepreneurs have an insatiable appetite for staying at the center of attention, often thriving on the rollercoaster that is starting and growing a business. What’s more, they live to create companies and experiences that people will not soon forget. But how exactly do they do it?
